Workshop: TNTP – Developing Teachers’ Mindsets for Students to Achieve

October 25, 2016
8:30 - 10:30 AM
NYC Charter School Center - Training Room
111 Broadway, Suite 604, New York, NY 10006

Presented by Versha Munshi-South

Drawing from Carol Dweck’s work on growth mindset, this session will explore the various ways that mindsets about students reveal themselves in a school setting. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how fixed mindsets impact student culture and learning and create a plan to address adult mindsets in their building.  After completing this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize actions and mindsets that indicate when a belief in all students’ ability to achieve is not being upheld
  • Identify the root causes of the fixed mindsets that exist in their building and relate them to the idea of (un)conscious bias
  • Articulate how fixed mindsets influence culture and achievement in our schools
  • Design a professional development to develop a growth mindset in teachers

Suggested Audience: Deans/Coaches, School Leaders
