Mini-Conference: Leading Weekly Data Meetings

February 2, 2017
9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
NYC Charter School Center - Training Room
111 Broadway, Suite 604, New York, NY 10006

Presented by Jesse Corburn

The process of data-driven instruction can transform a school. Data Driven Instruction emphasizes the key idea that effective instruction is not about whether we taught something, but instead it is about whether students learned it. To that end, immediate analysis leads to deeper analysis.  Leaders can help their teachers guide students to get better faster through weekly data analysis.  In this module, you will learn how to maximize the use of data in your school through implementation of weekly data meetings and effective reteaching plans.

By attending this session, attendees will leave with:

1. The ability to lead teachers through unpacking a standard to understand what students need to know and be able to do to demonstrate mastery
2. The tools to create an exemplar and lead teachers through the creation and analysis of exemplars
3. A framework for reviewing student work against the standard and the exemplar to analyze the gap in students’ conceptual understanding
4. A framework for determining how to reteach against the gap in understanding and the tools to coach the practice of that reteach
5. Tools for Aggressive Monitoring to monitor student understanding
