Workshop: Reading Fluency Techniques & Strategies

This 2-hour workshop is designed for participants looking to develop an increasing array of strategies to effectively target reading fluency. The workshop will go over foundations of reading fluency and introduce to participants to various teaching strategies to utilize in an ICT classroom (target conferences, strategies for building fluency in whole class read alouds, and partner reading, etc.), as well as strategic fluency strategies for supplemental interventions (repeated reads, choral reading, targeting vowel teams, etc.). Participants will be introduced to a variety of structured fluency programs: Six Minute Solutions, Great Leaps, etc. Finally, participants will learn how to creatively use technology to target reading fluency. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Implement structured fluency instruction into a whole class setting.
- Implement structured fluency interventions that include progress monitoring and goal setting.
