RTI is a comprehensive service delivery system that requires significant changes in how a school designs and provides services to meet the needs of all students. This session will highlight how the speech-language pathologist (SLP) can play a number of important roles in the RTI framework, including team member, technical assistance provider, curriculum and instruction advisor, problem-solver, and direct service provider for assessment and intervention activities. In addition, the session will offer how SLPs can bring a specialized knowledge and skills to the table regarding the language processes of listening, speaking, reading and writing – all essential skills for academic success.
