Have you ever walked by a speech and language therapy session and wondered “how is this speech language pathologist meeting that student’s IEP goals by playing board games?” Join City Sounds of NY to learn more! Session attendees will review the building blocks of speech and language and the general components of quality speech and language sessions. Attendees will watch videotaped speech-language therapy sessions coupled with professional commentary to learn more about how speech-language pathologists (1) structure their sessions, (2) tailor their goals to meet the needs of their students as well as academically-aligned core curriculum, and (3) engage their students.
Attendees will leave the session with paper handouts outlining the building blocks of speech and language as well as “what to look for” in quality speech and language sessions. In addition, attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the various components within a speech and language session and how SLPs meet their student’s IEP goals using both creative and curriculum-aligned methods.
