Mini-Conference: Rethinking School Discipline: The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach

March 5, 2015
8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
KIPP Infinity Middle School: Auditorium
625 West 133rd St, New York, NY 10027

Suggested Audience: Teachers, Counselors, Administrators

Traditional approaches to school discipline are based on the assumption that challenging students are behaving badly in order to get something or avoid something. However, research in the neurosciences has clearly demonstrated that challenging students lack the skills, not the will to behave well. This free presentation, co-sponsored with the KIPP network, will describe an approach that focuses on teaching at-risk students the skills they need to succeed while developing the helping relationships upon which all change is built.

Presenter: Dr. Stuart Ablon – Director of Think:Kids
