Mini-Conference: Co-Teaching 201 with Marilyn Friend

September 20, 2016
8:30AM - 3:00 PM
NYC Charter School Center Training Room
111 Broadway, Suite 604, NY NY 10006

Presented by Marilyn Friend

Co-teaching offers options to enable students with disabilities, those who are English learners, and those with other special needs to reach their potential by providing them with access to the general education curriculum while ensuring that they receive the specially designed instruction to which they are entitled.  When teachers carefully analyze their complementary areas of expertise and blend those unique strengths, they create classrooms that are richer, more intensive, and more tailored to address student needs.  However, co-teaching partnerships are  developmental, and even experienced co-teachers can continue to increase their knowledge and refine their skills. This session will address questions that you have related to the co-teaching practice you have been implementing for the past several years, to extend concepts already introduced with elaborated ideas and strategies, and to add techniques, especially those related to increasing instructional intensity in the Common Core State Standards.  The intent is to provide you with an opportunity to reflect on your co-teaching practice, to celebrate its strengths, and to learn specific strategies to move co-teaching to the next level.

Suggested Audience: Experienced Teachers, Experienced Coaches

TO ATTEND, REGISTRANTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED A 1.0 CO-TEACHING WORKSHOP (WITH ANY ORGANIZATION). WE ARE HOSTING A 1.0 CO-TEACHING EVENT ON 09/16, WHICH YOU CAN REGISTER FOR HERE
