NYC Charter School Center - Training Room
111 Broadway, Suite 604 New York, NY 10006
Group work is a powerful modality for supporting young peoples success in school. Group work can also maximize the number of students a counselor or social worker sees in a given day, and provides “real time” opportunities for students to interact socially with the support of a professional. This workshop will focus on troubleshooting common issues that participants have in executing the group work planning process that was outlined in the first session, as well as exploring challenges in the middle and end phases of the group process.
Session one was delivered on September 23, 2014. Even if you didn’t attend Part 1, you are still welcome to attend Part 2. Simply download and review the Part 1 materials prior to this session: http://tinyurl.com/lttgo6t
Part 1 focused on how to bolster the group work program at your school site. Participants discussed “front end” preparation for setting up a results-driven group work program, including issues of group composition, group structure, designing curriculum and eliciting buy-in from administrators.
