Differentiation means different things to different educators. First we will find a consensus of what it means and then explore ways of modifying our already solid instruction into even more effective instruction by addressing a variety of differentiation strategies, including providing more writing choices to students, designing tiered writing prompts, assigning multi-modal writing, and using flexible, temporary grouping configurations. You will see proven examples of how middle and high school teachers have found ways to fine-tune their teaching to address different learners’ needs.
