April 10, 2014

111 Broadway, Suite 604, New York, NY 10006
Children exposed to trauma and violence often have difficulty with concentration, attention, and processing ideas. Difficulty holding a thought, or mentalizing, may be behind these challenges. School experiences that foster mentalization can increase students’ desire to attend classes, strengthen their capacity to pay attention, and improve their grades and graduation rate. This workshop will provide participants with interventions that support mentalization in students. In addition, counselors will learn proven techniques for supporting educational outcomes in children exposed to trauma.
